Ham Lake, MN, USA

Project Challenge:

Providing wastewater treatment and disposal system for a site that is not serviced by a regional sewer line. The onsite system had to meet nitrogen limits, which required advanced secondary treatment.

Environmental/Regulatory Factors:

The project design and operation is reviewed and permitted by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA).

Options considered:

Onsite Wastewater System with primary, secondary, and partial tertiary treatment with soil disposal system. The project includes a septic tank, recirculation tank, AX100 Unit, MBBR, dosing tank and seepage beds.

Solution:

At full buildout, the proposed Kindergarten through 8th Grade school will have a population of 1,200 students and staff. The Peak Wet Weather Design Flow is 10,850 gallons/day and the Average Daily Flow is 6,000 gallons/day.

Result/Performance Data:

The system has been in operation for over four years and is meeting all applicable limits as required in their permit from the MPCA.
