Project Challenge:
Providing wastewater treatment and disposal system for a site that is not serviced by a regional sewer line. The onsite system had to meet BOD and TSS effluent limits, which required secondary treatment.
Environmental/Regulatory Factors:
The project design and operation were reviewed and permitted by Washington County.
Options considered:
A regional wastewater connection is not available in this area, so the only option was disposal to soil. Due to the strength of the wastewater, treatment was required prior to discharge to meet discharge standards and reduce the area required for soil disposal.
Solution:
Onsite wastewater system with primary, secondary and soil disposal systems. The project includes a septic tank, aeration tank, clarifier/recirculation tank, AX100 Unit, dosing tank and infiltration trenches. The Design Flow is 2,000 gallons/day which is based on the estimated number of employees and customers per day.
Result/Performance Data:
The system has been in operation for over a year and is meeting all applicable limits as required in their permit from Washington County.
